The SquareBook IPO Conference 2022

The SquareBook IPO Conference is returning to London this winter.

The IPO event 2022

With our 2020 event scuppered, the 2022 conference follows the inaugural SquareBook IPO Conference 2019, where we gathered voices, ideas and knowledge from all over the IPO space.

The 2019 conference featured speakers from the London Stock Exchange, Schroders, AFME, Aquis Stock Exchange, Baillie Gifford, Bloomberg, Hogan Lovells, KPMG, PwC, RateSetter and more.

This time you can expect another line-up of speakers and panellists at the forefront of equity capital markets, as well as a chance to network in person with delegates across the country.

What does the future hold for IPOs?

Primary markets are a hotter topic than ever. Policymakers globally recognise the importance of equity capital markets and continue to look for ways to improve them.

The UK’s new status outside the EU has led to a major review of the IPO process. SPACs and direct listings are making headlines – not always for the right reasons – and users of the market are asking questions about the IPO process itself in light of some notable successes and failures.

The time is right for change, but what should that look like? How can and should the IPO process evolve? How far are attempts to improve the process compromised by regulatory capture? Are SPACs an example of innovation, or just rebranded blank cheque vehicles? Are direct listings a real alternative to an IPO, or do they just show issuers’ aversion to a costly IPO process? What changes do issuers want to see? Do the widely held ideas of a successful IPO really make sense? What role does retail have to play?

At the IPO Conference 2022 we’ll cover questions like these through a mix of talks, panel discussions, and Q&A, giving you a chance to put questions to some of the most influential and insightful figures in the world of primary markets.

What to expect

In May 2019 SquareBook hosted its inaugural conference, covering a range of subjects on the IPO process and its significance for the economy. The guest speakers and panellists were senior representatives from regulators, stock exchanges, issuers and investors.

This winter there will be more of the same at a venue in Central London. We’ll confirm the date and location shortly.
